CERRIE was an independent Committee established by the UK Government in 2001, following concerns about the risks of internal radiation. The Committee operated between October 2001 and October 2004.

Although the Committee was set up and sponsored by two UK Government departments, DEFRA (Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) and DH (Department of Health), it operated completely independently of them. Its Final Report was not vetted by any Government agency.

Meeting 14 (March 2004)

1. Final Report: Draft Structure

The Committee considered a paper on a draft structure for the final report. After a lengthy discussion on how to accommodate the divergent views of two members, the Committee agreed that these member could draft separate "B" sections for the main chapters of the final report for the Committee's consideration. If included, the final report would need to state clearly the distinction between the majority (A) and minority (B) sections. The Committee would have the final say on the content of the whole report, including any minority sections.

2. Draft Chapters of the Final Report

The Committee then discussed a second draft chapter on risks of internal emitters, epidemiology and biology incorporating comments by members. After discussion many further points were agreed to be incorporated in both draft chapters, including revisions by the dissenting members.

3. Report of sub Committee on Epidemiology Meeting

The Committee considered a report of the latest meeting of their sub Committee on Epidemiology.
